I have been listening to and enjoying his stuff for many years now.

I have my son liking some of his stuff as well.

Today I invite you to enjoy Perfect.

Way to go Josh. Keep it up and all the best in your music and life.

I will try and bring some more of your wonderful tunes up soon. Starting with one of my early favourites: Gravity.zotzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14510111482279103861noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4880803026086107224.post-58568159158355149362014-08-03T06:00:00.003-07:002014-08-03T06:00:57.351-07:00John Option is back with "You fill my soul"John Option is back with "You fill my soul"

Well John Option is back with another option for you.

John Option - You fill my soul on youtube

You fill my soul lyrics

It is a nice video. Well done. On the quirky side. Really, perhaps a bit past quirky and on the way to zany which suits me fine.

On the John Option site, you can find seps, ardour projects, and a hydrogen project for the song. Useful if you want a go at making a remix of the song or building on it.

Of course, the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license that they use goes a long way to making such efforts legally smooth.

Keep it up guys, I am enjoying your efforts so far. Give us more.zotzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14510111482279103861noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4880803026086107224.post-1320257443311950822014-06-09T10:30:00.002-07:002014-06-09T10:40:02.238-07:00John OptionJohn Option

Well, it has been a long time since I did a little Free Music pushing here but today is the day.

I point you to:

John Option and their video:

My monkey

I was reading the Linux Audio User mailing list today when I saw their post. Here is a little excerpt:

"Of course the song is published under the terms of the
Creative Commons License (CC-BY-SA) and it's completely produced only
with free software: Ardour, Hydrogen, Jack, Qsynth, CALF, and many
other great free audio software that we used under a GNU/Linux system."

and:

"So we published the single recording tracks of the song My
monkey and the complete Ardour session. All this material is published
in our official website[1] under the CC-BY-SA license so that anyone
can use our tracks to produce a remix of our song or even a new song
that have to be published under the same license."

Way to go John Option! I wish you much success with this effort.

You might find some stuff on the Packet In wiki that be useful in your efforts.

So folks, look in on John Option and give them a listen.

I just came up with this line today:

"If you want to see more Free Music made, listen to Free Music more."

Thoughts?zotzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14510111482279103861noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4880803026086107224.post-19203047346457233692009-10-25T09:55:00.000-07:002009-10-25T10:03:18.067-07:00Free Music Distribution SetupsFree Music Distribution Setups

In this post I want to consider what would be a good setup, hardware and software wise, to distribute Free Music in the particular case of a DJ or musician or band doing a Free set or a Free show.

Consider:

D-Link DSM-G600 Wireless G Network Storage Enclosure plus an installed disk.

or

N+ Wireless Router plus a USB external disk or USB flash drive.

all songs to be played could be loaded onto the gear and made available for download before, during, and after the set or the show.

Consider:

Zoom H4 Handy Recorder

The show itself could be recorded and put on the earlier system for download immediately after the show.

I am looking for other ideas along these lines as well as pointers to other hardware that could do the job better and or cheaper.

Do you know of any Free Music artists / DJs doing something like this now?

What about video of the event? Would that be more difficult license wise?

all the best,
